 Pea Soup


Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 diced onion
  • 2 celery diced stalks
  • 3 cloves sliced garlic
  • 500 grams diced ham
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 500 grams dried split peas
  • 4 cups chicken stock or boullion
  • 2 and 1/2 cups water
  • salt and pepper to taste

How to:

  • Melt the butter in a large soup pot over low to medium heat.  Stir in celery, onion, and garlic and cook and stir well until onions are translucent.   
  • Stir in split peas, ham and bay leaf.  Add chicken stock and water.  Stir and simmer until peas and tender and the soup has thickened.  (about 90 mins min)  Salt and pepper to taste to serve.
